Helpful Tips
Grab the Marseille City Pass at any tourist office. It unlocks unlimited metro, tram and bus rides plus museum entries. One card does it all.
Download the RTM mobile app. Buy and validate metro tickets straight on your phone. No queues.
Ride the M2 metro line from Sainte-Marguerite Dromel. Reach the Old Port in 15 minutes flat.
Hop on the Navette Maritime boat shuttle. It links the Old Port to Pointe Rouge beach every 20 minutes in summer.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unlicensed drivers at the taxi rank outside Terminal 1 pose as official taxis, quoting inflated flat fares into town instead of using the meter. Only use taxis from the official queue displaying the illuminated "Taxi Marseille" sign on the roof and insist the meter is reset before departure.
Baggage porters inside the arrivals hall offer to wheel bags to the taxi stand or shuttle stop, then demand 10, 20 € for a 2-minute walk. Politely decline any unsolicited help with luggage. Carts are free and the route is clearly sign-posted.
Kiosks selling shuttle or bus tickets near the exit doors sometimes sell higher-priced "express" tickets that are the same regular service. Purchase tickets directly from the official operator's desk or machines next to the actual boarding point.
